Conduct Web Survey

This section explains how easy it is to conduct a web survey with SurveyGold. It also explains how to receive web survey responses.

Conducting Your Web Survey
The Conduct Survey tab folder is the place to conduct web surveys. Web survey responses may be entered:
- by SurveyGold automatically from a web survey response stored on the SurveyGold web site
- by a surveyor from a web survey response received via email

Using the "Record" Web Survey Processing Feature
This "Round-Trip Web Survey" feature provides the most efficient means of web survey response processing as follows:
- When the respondent clicks the Submit Responses button in the web survey form, the responses are sent immediately to the SurveyGold web site.
- The SurveyGold web site then stores them in a private folder accessible only by you. If this is the first set of responses submitted on that particular day, SurveyGold emails you a notification of new responses.
- From within the Conduct Survey tab in SurveyGold, click the Get Web Responses button. This downloads and imports the web survey responses into SurveyGold. The responses are permanently removed from the SurveyGold web site at this time.
The steps involved in conducting a web-based survey using the record processing option are as follows:

Step 1 - Setup your survey.

Step 2 - Save your survey as a Web form using the Record processing option.

Step 3 - Distribute the web survey form to a respondent.

Step 4 - Automatically import web responses.

Using the "Email" Web Survey Processing Feature

This feature processes web responses as follows:

When the respondent clicks the Submit Responses button in the web survey form, the responses are sent immediately to the SurveyGold web site.
The SurveyGold web site then emails the responses to you immediately. The responses are not stored on the SurveyGold web site.
When you receive a web survey response via email, you may then enter it into SurveyGold as if it was from a questionnaire-based survey. These steps are outlined in the Conduct Paper Survey section.

The steps involved in conducting a web-based survey using the email processing feature are as follows:

Step 1 - Setup your survey.

Step 2 - Save your survey as a Web form using the Email processing option.

Step 3 - Distribute the web survey form to a respondent.

Step 4 - Receive an email containing responses from a respondent.

Step 5 - Add a new respondent record.

Step 6 - Enter respondent information (if provided).

Step 7 - Enter responses.

Step 8 - Conclude survey.

Distributing the Web Survey Form to a Respondent

The only requirement for conducting your web survey is that a respondent's computer must be connected to the Internet at the time they click the Submit Your Responses button in your web survey. In other words, all respondents must have access to the Internet and be connected to it at the time they submit their responses.

Inviting Respondents to Participate in a Survey via Email

If you want to invite your respondents via email to participate, the most effective way to deploy a web survey to a known set of email addresses is to do the following:

Step 1 - If you saved your web survey form to the surveygoldplus.com website, then use the link provided to you by SurveyGold when you saved your survey as a web survey form to direct your respondents to your web survey form.
If you saved your web survey form to your computer and provided it to your webmaster to place it on your website or another website, then direct your respondents to the link provided by your webmaster.

Step 2 - In either case, you can direct your respondents to your web survey form by including the web survey link in a email that you send to them via your own email solution.

Step 3 - When the respondent clicks on the link in your email message to them, the web survey form opens and they can then complete the survey. This ensures that the respondent is online when completing your web survey. Therefore, their responses will be properly processed.

Note: You may also email your web survey as an email attachment to your respondents. However, it is important to know that their web survey responses will not be processed if they are not connected to the Internet and attempt to click the Submit Your Responses button in your web survey. If you choose to distribute your web survey in this manner, you should instruct the respondent to be online when they submit their responses to your web survey form.

Inviting Respondents to Participate in a Survey via a Link from Your Web Site

If you want to invite your respondents via a link on your web site to participate, the most effective way to deploy a web survey in this manner is to do the following:

Step 1 - If you saved your web survey form to the surveygoldplus.com website, then use the link provided to you by SurveyGold when you saved your survey as a web survey form to direct your respondents to your web survey form.
If you saved your web survey form to the your computer and provided it to your webmaster to place it on your website or another website, then direct your respondents to the link provided by your webmaster.

Step 2 - In either case, you can direct your respondents to your web survey form by providing them with a link to your web survey form via a page on your website or any website of your choosing.

Step 3 - When the respondent clicks on the link, the web survey form opens and they can then complete it via their web browser. This ensures that the respondent is online when completing your web survey. Therefore, their responses will be properly processed.

Automatically Collecting Web Responses

SurveyGold provides a simple and completed automated way of collecting survey responses. All you have to do is specify the Record option when saving your survey as a web file. Then, as your respondents submit web survey responses, SurveyGold automatically downloads and collects them so that you can view and analyze the results.

	Step 1 - From the Conduct Survey tab folder, click Get Web Responses button.
	Step 2 - When the Get Web Responses window appears, click the OK button to download and import your web survey responses.
	Step 3 - When the process is complete, a summary window appears. Now that your web survey responses are imported, you can go to View Results or Analyze Results to see the responses.
