Introducing SurveyGold 8

SurveyGold celebrates its eighth birthday with a new version 8 product that sports a fresh new look, rolls all of the features of SurveyGold 7 Professional Edition and Standard Edition into one edition and introduces new features to make your surveying even more effective.

In addition to adding support for multi-page web surveys, SurveyGold 8 adds significant value for customers who are conducting large numbers of surveys, long-running surveys or surveys where results need to be segmented for comparison purposes and for surveys requiring higher levels of abstraction when reporting results. This article introduces some of the new features. For a complete listing of new features, see the link the end of this article.

Folders - If you are managing and maintaining a large number of surveys, the new survey folder feature in the Setup Survey tab makes it easy for you to organize surveys into groups. You can create any number of survey folders and can move surveys between folders at will regardless of whether or not you have concluded collecting results for the survey.

For example, you could create one folder of current surveys, another folder for archived surveys, etc. After creating a folder, simply drag and drop your surveys into the folder of your choosing.

Import/Export Surveys - This feature provides the ability to import and export surveys (and optionally responses) so that you can share them with other SurveyGold 7 and 8 users. This ability to export a survey (and optionally responses), which used to be an exclusive feature of SurveyGold 7 Professional Edition, is now part of every SurveyGold 8 user's experience.

Memorized Filters - If you need to segment results for comparison purposes, this new feature in the View Results tab provides the ability to create a subset of survey respondents based on how they answered specific questions and/or their response date ranges (known as a filter) and then name the filter so that it is "memorized" for future use. The value to this new feature is that provides your with quick and easy access to routinely applied filters. This makes it easy for you define and view a subset of survey results based on a particular demographic trait (e.g., gender, age) and/or the date range of response (e.g., prior period, current period).

View Multiple Results Series - Leveraging the Memorized Filters, this feature provides the ability in View Results to display multiple sets of responses (side-by-side in multiple graph series) for the survey you are viewing. The value of this new feature is that it provides the ability to show trends of previous period to current period, comparisons of demographic groups, etc. Multiple series views can easily be passed into the Analyze Results tab where you can publish results to Word or the Web, or perform other reporting and analysis actions.

Weighting Index Reports - If you require higher levels of abstraction when reporting results, this new feature provides weighting index analysis. Weighting indexes provide the ability to make assertions about attributes of the survey results  (e.g., the trust, satisfaction, motivation, any other similar attribute that can be ascribed to a respondent) based on the responses provided to specific questions. These analyses are helpful for making assessments of individual or groups of customers, employees, or other similar constituencies. They are commonly used with personality profiles, business retention and expansion surveys, market assessments and the like.

Setting up a weighting index is easy to do. As a survey author you can at any time (before, during or after the collection of survey results) specify a weighted set of attributes and associate them with your survey. You can then assign any attribute to any question choice in your survey and assign an integer point value to increment or decrement the total value of the attribute. The analysis can be performed on an individual or set of respondents multiplies the relative importance of a attribute against the score awarded to a question addressing that attribute. The result is a new view of survey results that gives consideration to relative importance of the attributes you have defined.

Improved Database Performance - An upgraded version the database provides improved performance by providing intelligent caching for optimal performance.

Web Survey Validations Performed Locally - Web survey form validations are performed without having to communicate with the surveygold.com web site. This improves response times and eliminates unwanted side-effects of having to click the browser's "Back" button.
